RC Geeks Goes Live!
We're excited to announce the launch of RC Geeks, an eCommerce shop built on OpenCart. RC Geeks stock the whole range of radio controlled toys and models from cars to tanks, boats, helicopters, planes and more.
After a review of different eCommerce software we chose OpenCart for a variety of reasons. Features that make it stand out include:
- An automatic product feed to Google Products which is excellent for SEO.
- Daily automatically updating currencies, taken from Yahoo! Finance. Most other open source eCommerce platforms still require this to be manually updated.
- Speed - OpenCart runs quickly even without dedicated hardware, which is certainly not true of all eCommerce platforms.
- Ease of use that means the business owners can quickly have full control over their store and can make the changes they need to to their inventory and content.
- Excellent SEO right out of the box means URLs contain keywords and search engines will have no problem spidering the products.
- Simple and well-written code which allowed us to work with it quickly, keeping costs down for us and our client and allowing flexibility in to the future.
