OpenCart Builds From Enquiry to Go-Live

Posted by AlexDobson on April 3, 2023

Whether it's modernising your out of date OpenCart site or looking to move from another platform to OpenCart, you will go through our process of getting an estimate to getting your new website live. This blog gives you the step by step guide of how we go about this:

  1. Once we have received your enquiry, in order to give you an estimate for the new OpenCart build we will need to know the following:

  • What version of OpenCart you are using right now / what platform are you currently on?
  • What extensions you will like porting over to your new site?

  • Any custom work that has been undertaken on your current site?

  1. Once we have this information we will be able to give you a rough estimate for the build.

  2. When the estimate has been confirmed as being within budget, we will then proceed to give a more accurate quote for the work. We will likely need your Admin and FTP Logins in order to give you a firm price for the new site. In addition we will need your choice of which Antropy Theme you wish to use.

  3. The next step would be for us to write a project proposal. This document is key to both parties so that everyone knows exactly what will be undertaken within Phase 1 of the project and is singing off the same hymn sheet.

  4. When the project proposal has been agreed by both parties, we get the 50% deposit invoice raised. Once this has been paid, we begin the project.

  5. We always undertake the build on a dev site and this helps both parties when it comes to testing everything that has been completed from the proposal.

  6. Once the dev site has been completed and the testing is finished, when then get the remaining 50% balance invoice raised. When this has been paid, we schedule in the go-live.

  7. When Phase 1 is complete, other parts of the project that weren’t included may want to be added as part of a Phase 2. This could be parts of the projects that cropped up during the Phase 1 project and / or nice to haves that were not immediately important for the first Phase. Once Phase 2 is confirmed, we then start from Number 2 and the estimation part of the process.
