RC Geeks Website Re-Design Case Study

Posted by Paul on March 14, 2014

Lots of companies invest heavily in the design/branding of their websites. It takes a lot of time and costs a lot of money to get a website looking as slick and professional as those of the big boys. So is it really worth it? And by worth it, I mean does it give an ROI (Return On Investment) worth having?

While this is a hard thing to test scientifically, it is possible to see the effects of a website design compared to the baseline sales that were coming in before.

Well recently RC Geeks had a redesign. Here's how it used to look:

Here's how it looks now:

And how has this affected sales?

So it's safe to say that the redesign is probably the cause of the massive increase in the run up to the Christmas period. Sales were roughly double that of Christmas 2012 and have stayed significantly higher in January/February than in previous years. No new marketing campaigns were launched at the same time but the regular customer emails continued pointing previous customers to new products on the site.

To conclude, it appears (from this very unscientific test) that a slick new redesign can pay off almost immediately in increased website sales when done well.
